Our minds are our own prisons.

Growing up, I frequently heard the saying, "Our minds are our own prisons." It wasn't until much later in life that I realized how powerful these words were.

Imagine getting to a point in life when you realize you have been locking yourself in a cage and you are no longer free. Because you're afraid, you've locked yourself inside your house and drawn all the shades. Now it's dark, and you want to feel the sun but you can't. It is impossible. If you close and protect yourself, you are confining this terrified, insecure person within your heart. You'll never be free that way!

We occasionally bind ourselves with nothing more than our thoughts in life.Unknowingly, we keep ourselves in a state of poverty. As one of six siblings, I grew up in a lowly household where things were not always simple. We occasionally didn't have much to eat because my mom worked as a businesswoman and my dad was a teacher. The neighbors who often asked for help were us.Specifically, we were the talk of the town at all times.

We once went to a Chinese restaurant for lunch with some buddies. I used to be anxious when I went to fancy restaurants because I thought I wouldn't be able to buy the cuisine. But I chose to take the chance because we were with friends. A menu with Chinese writing was presented to us. I recall laughing at my jokes about being impoverished, and I would make jokes…
