Gaslighting makes one question their perspective of reality.

Gaslighting is a type of psychological manipulation in which an individual or group causes someone to question their perception of reality, memory, or beliefs. The term is derived from the 1944 film Gaslight, in which a man manipulates his wife into questioning her own sanity by dimming the lights in their home and then denying it when she notices. In today's relationships, gaslighting is often more subtle but equally damaging. It can occur in personal relationships, workplaces, or even social institutions. Understanding the signs of gaslighting is critical for determining whether you or someone you care about is a victim of this type of emotional abuse.

Common Signs of Gaslighting

1. Constantly Questioning Your Memory

Someone insisting you are remembering things incorrectly is a classic gaslighting tactic. They may deny ever having said anything or claim that an event occurred differently than you recall. This can lead to doubts about your ability to trust your own memory.
